The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Akron Design Awards program recognizes excellence in design, planning, and construction of projects design by AIA Akron architects. The intent of the Design Awards program is to honor the highest standards of design. Each entry, regardless of size or classification, is judged individually on the basis of total design merit. All project types were eligible for submission by members – from small home renovations to multi-million dollar projects.
Celebrating our 20th AnniversaryFMD Architects, Inc. began in 1990 as Michael DiMaio and Associates Architects in Fairlawn, Ohio. Then as now, the desire of its principals is to provide high-quality, client-driven architectural services. This mission has resulted in a design-oriented firm whose attention to design, service and budget constraints, creates real value for clients. With the inclusion of new principals, Mark D. Moore and Melanie R. Friedman in 2008, DiMaio Architects grew to become FMD Architects, built on the same values and philosophy.

Akron Woman Earns KudosWomen's Network of Northeast Ohio is proud to announce that Board member Melanie Friedman will receive the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce's 30 for the Future Award.
"30 for the Future", currently in its fourth year, is an annual award recognizing 30 young professionals between the ages of 25 and 39 for their leadership and the contributions they make to their industries, communities and the Greater Akron Region.
Melanie Friedman, a Principal with Fairlawn's FMD Architects, Inc., has led the FMD team to produce such notable projects as the Creekside Animal Clinic in Norton, which received the Veterinary Economics Magazine Merit Award for Hospital of the Year, and the Gervasi Vineyard and Italian Bistro in Canton, featured in Properties magazine earlier this year. Melanie serves her community as a member of the Green Business Certification Sub-Committee for Summit County's Green Task Force, and she is working on plans with AIA Akron to host a local "Canstruction" event to benefit the Greater Akron Food Bank.

Gervasi Winery Now OpenResidential Client Opens Winery in Canton, OH
8 years ago FMD Architects completed a custom home design for clients in Jackson Township and now they are back with a vision of a project!
Work is underway on the Gervasi Vineyard and Italian Bistro to be located in a newly renovated barn built in the 1800's. Additional buildings on the 55 acre property will include a storage/carriage house, marketplace, and wedding pavilion.

Barberton City Schools' Projects UnderwayExciting progress is being made on the Barberton City Schools Projects. Magics crowds are packing into the newly renovated stadium on Friday nights, and construction is underway on the new Middle School project. We also are currently in the bidding phase for the elementary schools.
